On October 9-10, PAP\/RAC received a delegation from the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), which is one of the leading Korean government-affiliated institutes, and also a think-tank for developing national strategy and policies on marine and coastal affairs. As newly introducing \u201cCoastal Waters Zoning System\u201d and \u201cTarget-based Natural Coastline Management System\u201d as more efficient methods for the existing ICZM, they have been developing some more substantial and realistic measures for those two systems. They recognised the Mediterranean region as having great experience in this field and identified PAP\/RAC as the most suitable organisation to contact.<\/p>\n
The delegation was composed of: Yoon, Sung Soon, Associate Research fellow; Jung, Ji Ho, Senior Researcher; and Ahn, Yong Sung, Researcher.<\/p>\n
Since one of their major topics of interest was the CAMP \u201cKastela Bay\u201d project and its follow up, on October 9 a visit of the CAMP area was organised with the presentation of the project and its most important elements. On October 10, the delegation visited the PAP\/RAC premises where a meeting was organised with the director and other staff members involved with the activities of their interest. They were informed on the structure of UNEP-MAP and PAP\/RAC\u2019s role in it, as well as on the PAP\u2019s modus operandi. Apart from a fruitful discussion which they deemed very useful, they were also given a number of documents that will be helpful in their future work. Later that day, a visit was organised to the \u201cEco-Kastela bay\u201d agency in charge of the Split-Solin and Kastela-Trogir sewerage system which is a direct result of the original CAMP project. The sewerage system project was presented in great detail, followed by a visit to some sites of interest. The KMI delegation thanked PAP\/RAC for organising their visit and expressed conviction that the information obtained would be of great benefit for their future efforts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":7304,"parent":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"class_list":["post-4689","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
