{"id":8203,"date":"2026-03-31T07:42:37","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T07:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.paprac.org\/projects\/pegaso\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T17:21:56","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T17:21:56","slug":"pegaso","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/staging.paprac.org\/hr\/projekti\/pegaso\/","title":{"rendered":"Pegaso"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Key objectives<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PEGASO aimed to strengthen governance, knowledge and tools supporting ICZM implementation across the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In particular, it aimed to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">assess major environmental and socio-economic pressures affecting coastal and marine areas<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and decision-making processes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">support the implementation of the ICZM Protocol in the Mediterranean<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">assess readiness for ICZM implementation in both the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">develop and test sustainability tools, including indicators, scenarios and valuation methods<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">improve data sharing and access through a spatial data infrastructure<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">strengthen capacity building and cooperation across regions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Main results<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PEGASO generated a comprehensive governance, knowledge and tools framework supporting ICZM implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main results include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">establishment of the ICZM Governance Platform, linking scientists, policy-makers and practitioners<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">development and testing of sustainability tools, including indicators, scenarios and valuation approaches<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">creation of a Spatial Data Infrastructure enabling improved data sharing across regions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">implementation of case studies testing ICZM tools and approaches at different scales<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">strengthened capacity building and knowledge exchange across the Mediterranean and Black Sea<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">improved basis for ecosystem-based and integrated coastal and marine management<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Role of PAP\/RAC<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the PEGASO project, PAP\/RAC led the work on ICZM governance process, playing a central role in bridging science and policy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In particular, PAP\/RAC contributed to the development of the ICZM Governance Platform, including the assessment of governance frameworks, stakeholder needs and institutional readiness for ICZM implementation in the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.
