The Blue Plan and the Serge Antoine Association are organizing a conference on Tuesday, 5 June 2018, in the Amphitheatre of the Société de Géographie in Paris, dedicated to forty years of reflection and action in favour of sustainable development in the Mediterranean, with the support of the History Committee of the Ministry for the Ecological and Solidary Transition, the General Council for Food, Agriculture and Rural Areas (CGAAER) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and the Institute for Economic Prospective of the Mediterranean World (IPEMED).
In a first session, speakers will look back at the creation — at the initiative of Serge Antoine — of the Blue Plan and its work in the fields of foresight and environmental reporting, which gave it its legitimacy. In a second part, the possible futures of the region will be addressed during a final round table bringing together Mediterranean experts and decision-makers.
This will also be an opportunity for the Blue Plan to present an ambitious foresight study project, MED 2050, endorsed by the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention, aimed at mobilizing decision-makers and stakeholders from both the South and the North by going beyond geographical and institutional boundaries. This work, to be carried out over the next four years, will be based on dialogue, partnerships, and shared visions of desirable futures for the Mediterranean Basin
