Will there be a CAMP in France?

The negotiations started last year about launching of a CAMP in the Department of Var in France continue. On 3 February, a meeting took place in Toulon to consider how MAP and its Centers could accompany the Environmental service of the Var department in elaboration of its Development scheme for the sea and coast (SMVML). The meeting, convened at the initiative of the PAP/RAC French Focal Point, was attended by representatives of the French Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning (MEEDDT); the PACA region (Provence – Alpes – Côte d’Azur); the Environmental service of the Var department; the Blue Plan/RAC and PAP/RAC. The results of this rich joint brainstorming session allowed the PAP/RAC to contract drafting of a feasibility study for the CAMP in the Department of Var, which should show what lessons could be learned from this project for the implementation of the ICZM Protocol and identify the activities with which MAP could contribute to SMVML.
